The Nakshatra Wheel

Traditionally called the lunar mansions, the 27 Nakshatras divide the Moon’s path across the sky into twenty-seven sections — roughly one day’s travel each. Each is a dwelling place where the Moon rests for a night. If the twelve zodiac signs are the great regions of the sky, the Nakshatras are the smaller neighborhoods within them.
